The Porsche 928 is better in all three categories, but not for much! That was a close race!

The data shows very similar numbers. But, we have to have a winner, and in this case, the winner is the Porsche 928. Point for 928 models! Yay!

Round 2: Sound

There has to be a part dedicated to the sound in all our competitions. The crackling sound of both these vehicles makes it simply incredible.

You have to listen to the sounds to understand why we chose a specific car to be a winner of the sound category.

Porsche 928

The Porsche 928 starts first again. Maybe that is because now he is spoiled he won the first round. On the other hand, perhaps it’s not for the long? Let’s see.

The 928 models exhaust system features a flawlessly balanced trumpeting. Also, the car’s sound is as legendary as its performance or look. You’ll always recognize that music when you hear it!

Porsche 968

So, do you think the 968 is better or worse than 928?

Well, to begin with, it has a different sound than the Porsche 928 vehicles. The 968 car has a more controlled sound, making it an excellent alternative if you don’t want to be in a noisy situation.

The 968 exhaust sound is fantastic, but we can’t say that it is as good as the one 928 models make.

The time of choosing the winner of the sound category. We choose the 928 to be our winner again because the sound is more profound and unique.

Round 3: Appearance

There are a lot of things that make a car’s appearance an all-around winner. But, true beauty is not only in the looks. Additionally, each vehicle presented its own story about appearance, and the winner will be based on several factors.

Let us know what you think!

Porsche 928

The 928 is elegant and comfortable, with features like the receding pop-up headlights that distinguish it from the competition.

Being a luxurious cross-country GT, it comes with a plethora of extra comforts. To name a few: rear seats that fold down to allow for more cargo capacity, big air vents, rear sun visors, and speakers that extended the length of the door.

Historically, its light and rust-free design comes from being one of the very first cars to use aluminum. It is built to last.

The Porsche 928 was a symbol of luxury and still is as of today. A commoner on the glamorous Hollywood streets. And it also starred in some of the era’s most famous films, including ‘Scarface’ and ‘Risky Business.’

Porsche 968

The Porsche’s 968 model manufacturers wanted the front end to look like the 928 models – today’s rivals! It has exposed retractable headlights and a comparable bumper treatment.

Porsche incorporated new body-colored flexible sill moldings, door handles, and wing mirrors to the car’s sides.

Many interior features, such as the instrument binnacle and dash, were carried over from the 944 S2. Full leather and air conditioning were not standard, but the AC was standard on 968s sold in the United States.

And the winner of the appearance round is… *drum rolls* the 968!

Round 4: Body

In this category, we’ll use a few subcategories. Those will be:

  1. Chassis
  2. Cargo capacity
  3. Fuel details

Porsche 928

The 928 boasts a hot-dip galvanized steel bodyshell with a 160-liter cargo capacity.

The most crucial element here is fuel usage. It consumes 16 mpg (12 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway). The tank holds 22.7 gallons, and the range is 534 miles.

Porsche 968

The 968 model has a rolling chassis. That is a chassis without the bodywork of a motor vehicle, and it is without suspension and wheels. It has a cargo capacity of 226-L, better than what 928 models offer.

Now about fuel. It has an average fuel consumption of 23 miles per gallon. The fuel tank capacity is 19.5 gallons, less than the 928 models.

The last fact we want to cover is the fuel range. The 968 models can go up to 446 miles with a full tank. Wow! It’s perfect, but the 928 model is better in this subcategory.

We have an obvious winner. In this category, each car can get up to five points.

FAQ: For Whom is Which Model Suitable?

While the competition showed us that the Porsche 928 is “better,” we still think the 968 is not so far away.

The Porsche 968 is a better “first” Porsche car than the 928. This is because people buy the 968 before investing in the 928 models.

So perhaps you can think about getting a 968 if you need a status car but do not need the total package of the old-ish legendary vehicle.

However it might be, both cars are excellent in performance and are drop-dead gorgeous. Cheers to both of the cars!
